Zaha Questions Palace Team-Mates

Wilfried Zaha has hit out at his Crystal Palace team-mates by suggesting he “can’t play in every position”. Ivory Coast international Zaha was keen to force through a move away from Palace during the summer, with Arsenal and Everton both reportedly launching numerous bids, but the Eagles opted against selling and he instead remained at Selhurst Park.

Zaha was clearly frustrated that he was unable to seal a transfer, but the dust had appeared to have settled after Palace made a strong start to the season, as they recorded back-to-back wins over Manchester United and Aston Villa at the end of August.

However, Roy Hodgson’s side was brought crashing back down to earth following last week’s 4-0 hammering at the hands of Tottenham and Zaha has now seemingly launched a scathing attack on his team-mates, by suggesting they are not all pulling their weight.

Speaking to Crystal Palace fans website HLTCO, Zaha said: “As much as I do on the pitch, I can’t play in every position. “I give 100 per cent, but there are 11 on the pitch and everyone needs to pull their weight.”

Zaha’s own form has also been questioned in some quarters, as he is yet to register a goal or assist this season, with the suggestion being his mind has been distracted by his failure to secure a move.

The 26-year-old admits he was frustrated by the way things were handled during the summer, but insists he will always give his all to the Palace cause for as long as he is at the club. “What happened in the summer happened… there were things I was told that did not happen and I was not happy about it.

But I’m still a Palace player and want to do well for the club,” Zaha added. “The fans care about your wellbeing and I will always love Palace – whatever happens.” Zaha will be hoping to get his season up and running on Sunday when Palace welcome Wolves to Selhurst Park in the Premier League.
