Zola Set To Depart Chelsea

Chelsea assistant boss Gianfranco Zola is set to depart the club having only been offered an ambassadorial role. First-team boss Maurizio Sarri is on the verge of leaving Stamford Bridge after just one season with the club, despite winning the Europa League and guiding them to a top-four finish.

Fans were unhappy with his brand of football and Juventus have reportedly come in for his signature to make him their new manager replacing Massimiliano Allegri. It appears there will be a major overhaul of the Blues’ backroom team as well, with Zola reportedly rejecting the chance to become a club ambassador.

It is understood the club told him they do not see a future for him as part of the coaching staff but wanted to keep him on. Zola, who formerly managed West Ham, Watford and Birmingham and represented the Blues between 1996 and 2003, will search for a coaching role elsewhere, having been announced as part of Sarri’s staff last summer.
