Iroha Drools Over Vacant Flying Eagles Job

By Sab Osuji:

Former Nigeria left-back, Ben Iroha has revealed that he will be interested in handling the U-20 national team, Flying Eagles if the Nigeria Football Federation,NFF, shows interest in hiring him for the job.

The Flying Eagles coaching job was declared vacant by the NFF after disclosing it has parted company with former handler, Manu Garba, in the aftermath of the U-20 team's dismal performance in the concluded FIFA U-20 World Cup finals in New Zealand which Serbia won 2-1 at the expense of Brazil.

This has thus sparked vast interest on the job by many Nigerian coaches with Iroha, a former Flying Eagles, Golden Eaglets, U-23 Olympic team and Super Eagles assistant coach informing Complete Sports that he would be available for the job if he is contacted by NFF.

"My assignment with the Olympic team ended few years ago so I had to return to my base in the United States of America to stay with my family. I just came back home two weeks ago for a short visit and I just hearing from you that NFF have relieved Manu Garba of his Flying Eagles managerial duties.

"As to whether I could be interested in handling the team, nobody can shy away from serving his fatherland in any capacity he's needed and I must say if NFF decide to ask me to come over for the job, why not?", Iroha queried rhethorically.

Iroha was Heartland of Owerri assistant coach in 2009 when the team reached the CAF Champions League but lost to TP mazembe of Congo DR on away goal rule after a 2-2 aggregate scoreline.
