Isa Out For Rest Of Season

Wigan Warriors forward Willie Isa has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a broken collarbone. The 29-year-old picked up the injury in their 26-6 win against fellow Super League Grand Final hopefuls Warrington Wolves on Friday evening.

Isa has been with Wigan since the start of the 2016 season after signing a three-year-contract from Widnes Vikings, and has proven himself to be a key player in their pack.

The injury rules him out of their final two Super 8s matches of the season, firstly against Huddersfield on Thursday then Hull FC the following Friday, and he will be forced to miss the semi-final and Grand Final should they get there.

Coach Shaun Wane says it is a huge blow to lose Isa and feels the Wigan players should be even more motivated to win in his absence.

“We’re not 100 per cent sure if he’s going to need an operation or not, but either way he is done for the year,” Wane said. “It’s a massive blow, no question. It’s really unfortunate for him.

“Willie has filled in several positions this season and in every match, has given his all. It will give us extra motivation to do something this season.”
