Italy are through to the last eight of Euro 2016 following a 2 -0 win against holders Spain at the Stade de Prince on Monday.
Giorgio Chiellini seventh international goal and a late strike by Graziano Pelle help the Italians booked a quater- final date with world champions Germany.
Italy created the first chance of the game with Graziano Pelle forcing a great save off a header from David de Gea in the eighth minute.
The Manchester United goalkeeper was on hand to deny Antonio Conte's men from taking a deserved lead three minutes later when he pushed Emmauele Gianccherini's wonderful effort onto the post.
The Azzurri edged themselves into a deserve lead in the 35th minute through Chiellini.
De Gea kept out Eder's freekick, but the veteran centre- back followed up on the rebound to hand Italy the lead.
Gianccherini came close to doubling Italy's lead after a jinking run through multiple challenges and fired the ball from the edge of the box, but De Gea pushed the ball out once again for a corner.
Spain applied the pressure early in the second half, but it was Italy who came close to increasing their advantage in the 55th minute with De Gea producing another stunning save to deny Eder.
Andreas Iniesta came close to dragging Spain back into the game 14 minutes from time but his effort was palmed away by Gianlugi Buffon.
Buffon was also on hand to deny Gerard Pique moment later producing a superb save the Barcelona defender shot.
