Itohan Ebireguesele yesterday equaled the feat of Ndidi Winifred, Obioma Okoli and Yinka Ayenuwa when she won a silver medal in the women’s weightlifting 69kg category concluded yesterday.
Ebireguesele finished in second position with a lift of 222kg behind Cameroon’s Marie Fegue who had a lift of 234kg to snatch the event’s gold medal.
The bronze medal went to Canada’s Marie-Josee Ares-Pilon who lifted 214kg.
The silver medal won by Ebireguesele was Nigeria’s fourth at the on-going 2014 Commonwealth Games after Winifred, Obioma and Ayenuwa also finished runners-up in their own categories.
On Saturday, 16-year-old Joy Amalaha won Nigeria’s first gold medal before Oluwatoyin Adesanmi made it two on Sunday in women’s weightlifting.
