Nigeria’s last surviving player in the men’s singles, Bode Abiodun, has been eliminated from the 2017 ITTF Challenge Seamaster Nigeria Open in Lagos at the semi-finals, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Abidoun, who defeated favourite Aruna Quadri in the round of 16, fought bravely but lost 4-3 (8-11,5-11,9-11,11-6,11,11-2, 11-4, 4-11) to India’s Sarthak Gandhi in Sunday’s epic semi-final battle.
Despite trailing Gandhi 3-0 in the first three sets, the Nigerian fought back to tie the sets at 3-3 but failed to build on his impressive come-back in the decider, falling 11-4.
Gandhi will face the winner of Marton Szita versus Omar Assar in the final at the Indoor Sport Hall of the Teslim Balogun Stadium.
In another result, Africa’s No.1 ranked women’s player Egypt’s Dina Meshref beat last year’s finalist Szandra Pergel 4-2 to book a place in the final of the women’s singles event.
Meshref will face Olga Kulikova from Russia in the final.Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
