Nigeria’s top ranked table tennis star, Quadri Aruna, has won the men’s singles title at the 2018 ITTF Challenge Seamaster Nigeria Open at the Molade Okoya Hall of the Teslim Balogun Stadium, in Lagos, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Aruna who is ranked 18th in the world defeated Antoine Hachard from France 4-2 (13-11, 3-11 11-8, 7-11, 5-11,7-11 ) in the finals.
He becomes the first Nigeria to win this title.
Aruna lost the first game 13-11 but bounced back to tie the game 11-3 in the second set.
Haggard won the third set 11-8 but Aruna tied the Frenchman for the second time winning the fourth set 11-7.
For the first time in the final, the 27 year old Aruna took the lead in the final winning 11-5 in the fifth set.
