Hazard, Fabregas Score, Moses Shines As Chelsea Outclass Iwobi’s Arsenal

Chelsea defeated Arsenal 3-1 at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League lunchtime kick-off on Saturday to take a step closer to regaining the title.

A header from Marcos Alonso, a brilliant solo goal by Eden Hazard and a Cesc Fabregas chip sealed the comfortable win for Chelsea.

Olivier Giroud got Arsenal’s only goal.

Super Eagles duo Alex Iwobi and Victor Moses were in action for Arsenal and Chelsea respectively.

Chelsea now extend their lead at the top to 12 points.

Iwobi had the game’s first big chance in the second minute following a poor pass by Thibaut Courtois but his shot was deflected away for a corner.

Chelsea had a chance from a free-kick in the 11th minute but Gary Cahill headed his effort over the bar.

Chelsea took the lead on13 minutes through Alonso who headed into the net after Diego Costa’s initial header had come off the post.

Arsenal were forced to an early change as Hector Bellerin went off injured and was replaced by Gabriel Paulista.

A few minutes later Chelsea almost doubled their lead through Costa but his shot hit the side netting.

On 32 minutes Pedro Rodriguez had a good chance for Chelsea only to see his shot parried away for a corner by Petr Cech.

Paulista had a big chance for Arsenal from a cross on 38 minutes but his close range header was palmed over the bar by Courtois for a corner.

Arsenal went close in added time through Ozil but his low shot was well saved by Courtois.

Chelsea went 2-0 up on 53 minutes through Hazard who went on a solo run before shooting past Cech.

Arsenal had a chance on 64 minutes but Nacho Montreal’s low cross in front of Chelsea’s goal evaded everybody.

Welbeck almost got Arsenal on the score sheet on 79 minutes but Courtois made a brilliant save off his low header.

Fabregas made it 3-0 to Chelsea on 85 minutes playing the ball into an empty net following a poor clearnce from Cech.

Arsenal pulled a goal back through Giroud in the 91st minute, as he headed in Monreal’s cross.
