Nigeria youngster, Alex Iwobi, was in action and provided the assist which saw Arsenal hold Paris Saint Germain to a 1-1 draw in a Group A match day 1 UEFA Champions League tie at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday night.

PSG went in front in the first minute through Edison Cavani who headed in Serge Aurier’s cross.

Cavani went on to miss a series of gilt-edged chances which ultimately cost PSG.

In the 78th minute, Alexis Sanchez drew Arsenal level after Iwobi’s initial shot was saved.

But on the stroke of full-time Olivier Giroud and Marco Veratti were sent off.

At the Nou Camp, Barcelona put their shocking loss to Alaves last weekend behind them by thrashing Celtic 7-0 with Lionel Messi grabbing a hat-trick and Luiz Suarez hitting a brace in a Group C clash.

Neymar and Andrea Iniesta got Barcelona’s other goals.

Celtic were awarded a penalty on 25 minutes after Marc Ter Stegen fouled Moussa Dembele but the German keeper saved the spot kick.

And in a Group D encounter, Bayern Munich thumped Russian side FC Rostov 5-0 inside the Allianz Arena.

Goals from Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Muller and Joshua Kimmich (brace) and Juan Bernat gave Bayern the comfortable win.

In other results Ludogorets held Basel 1-1 in Group A, Besiktas forced hosts Benfica to a 1-1 in Group B, Dynamo Kyiv lost 2-1 at home to Napoli also in Group B while Atletico Madrid pipped PSV 1-0 in Holland in a Group D encounter.
