Nigeria U23 invitee Alex Iwobi of Arsenal has been shortlisted alongside four others for April’s Barclays Under-21 player of the month.
Reading’s Aaron Kuhl, Sunderland forward Duncan Watmore, Norwich City full-back Reece Hall-Johnson and Manchester City midfielder Olivier Ntcham were also shortlisted after impressing during the month.
Iwobi,19, scored four times in U21 matches in the month of April but face stiff competition from Sunderland forward, Watmore who also scored same amount of goals.
Reading Midfielder Aaron Kuhl helped his side win all four Barclays Under-21 Premier League matches in Division 2 in April before they sealed promotion, while Norwich Hall-Johnson also helped his side go unbeaten in the month under review.
Ntcham played a key role in Man City’s progression to the Premier League International Cup final on Friday, where they take on Porto.
The first two winners of the accolade, introduced in February 2015, were Southampton’s Ryan Seager and Leicester City’s Harrison Panayiotou.
The winner for April will be announced on Friday 8 May 2015.
