OB Odense midfielder Izunna Uzochukwu says he is eager about returning to the Nigeria squad following a series of impressive showings for his club in pre-season, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Izunna who is yet to get another call-up to the Super Eagles after featuring for the team last year against Tanzania has been one of Odense’s standout performers so far and he is banking on his hardwork to reclaim a spot under the yet to be appointed new coach.
“Honestly, I do think about it. My priority is to have fun with my team here and work harder to get a recall to the national team,” Izunna told Completesportsnigeria.com.
“I still have a lot to offer the team and I’m confident I will get my chance when the new coach is appointed.”
He is also confident Nigeria will qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
He said:” We stand a good chance of qualifying if we start well against Zambia and Algeria.
“The fact that we missed two consecutive AFCONs will spur the team to go all out for the sole ticket.”
