James Peters: Oliseh Should Take CHAN Failure As Challenge

By Richard Jideaka, Abuja:

Former national team coach, James Peters, insists that the  Super Eagles crash at the ongoing 2016 CHAN should serve as a wake up call for Head Coach Sunday Oliseh for the bigger tasks ahead, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.‎

Reacting to the 0-1 loss to Guinea that automatically ended Nigeria's participation at the CHAN, James Peters said it was sad that the Eagles crashed out after giving so much hope.

He stated that the loss will no doubt serve as a lesson to Oliseh and spur him to prepare better for the must win 2017 African Nations Cup qualifier against Egypt in March

"We must rally support for Oliseh and the Super Eagles to ensure that we not only beat Egypt in Nigeria but get a result in the return leg in Cairo.  The CHAN loss should be a challenge to Oliseh and I am sure he will rise to the occasion," Peter stated during a chat with Completesportsnigeria.com.‎

" I don't subscribe to calls to fire Oliseh because he lost out in Rwanda. He will come good in future. We lost because the boys could not rise to the occasion against the skilful Guineans and we over relied on striker Chikatara to get the goals.

He said that CHAN was not all about winning, but a kind of exposing and developing players in the domestic league, adding that Oliseh should know the players better now.
