James Peters Tips Falcons For Glory At Women’s W/Cup

By Richard Jideaka, Abuja:

Ahead of the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada, former Assistant Secretary General of Nigeria Football Federation, James Peters has predicted that the Super Falcons are genuine contenders for the title.

Speaking in Abuja, Peters noted that the current squad boasts of players with World Cup pedigrees at both age grades and senior level, saying the team will not be lacking in experience when they square up with the rest of the world in Canada.

“I believe that the team is good enough for the trophy. They’ve stayed in camp for so long, and they have also lined up two grade A international friendly matches against New Zealand and Canada which will help in their blending process.

“Another thing going for the team is the fact that most of the players graduated from the age grade level, the U-17 and the U-20 team that won silver at the last FIFA U-20 World Cup in Germany, and the team that won the Africa Women’s Championship. They have gained enough experience by playing most of the big countries on several occasions,” he said.

James Peters argued that the only thing needed for the technical crew to do is to work on the psychology of the players, while also maintaining that he has strong believe in the technical ability of the coaching crew led by Edwin Okon.

James Peters who was a former coach of the female team expressed great confidence that the Nigeria Super Falcons would qualify from the group that has top countries like the USA, Sweden and Australia.

“Like you said, these are great countries of women football, but I also want to tell you that Nigeria is a great women football country. Just as you are worried about them, they are also worried about you. They should just go and play their games without any respect for them,” James Peters said.
