Jamie Hoping For Sibling’s Return

Jamie Murray is hopeful older brother Andy will be back playing Davis Cup tennis for Great Britain next year. Three-time Grand Slam champion Andy only made his return from hip surgery at Queen’s Club this past June and he has had to be very careful about his schedule in case of suffering a recurrence of the injury.

Murray has only managed to appear in four more tournaments, with his latest outing coming at the US Open, where he lost to Spaniard Fernando Verdasco in the second round at Flushing Meadows.

The 31-year-old has decided to skip GB’s Davis Cup World Group Play-offs tie against Uzbekistan this weekend but brother Jamie, who has been named in the squad as a doubles specialist, believes it won’t be long until his sibling is back playing in the competition.

“This one just came at the wrong time for him in his comeback. I know he was desperate to play here in Scotland. Hopefully, he’ll be back playing Davis Cup next year,” he said of the absence of his brother Andy, as per STV.

Cameron Norrie, Jay Clarke, Daniel Evans and Dominic Inglot have also been named in the squad for the tie at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow.
