Watford have been boosted by Daryl Janmaat’s return to training following knee surgery earlier than anticipated. The 29-year-old Netherlands international right-back, who moved to Vicarage Road from Newcastle in summer 2016, has been out of action for almost two months having undergone surgery on a knee problem in late September.

It was feared that Janmaat could be absent for a significant spell, but the club have confirmed that he was back on the training pitch with the first team this week.
Janmaat is now set to continue his rehabilitation for several weeks before being considered for a return to first-team action so will not line up against Liverpool after the international break.
However, he will face a fight to oust Kiko Femenia from boss Javi Gracia’s plans, given that the Spaniard has started the last five Premier League games and impressed.
