Torino midfielder Joel Obi has been ruled out for three weeks after he suffered a muscle injury to his right thigh, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
And it remains to be seen if the Nigerian will feature before the end of 2016.
Obi who has made 11 Serie A appearances (three starts and eight substitute appearances) this season for seventh place Torino, copped the injury in The Bulls’ 4-0 win over Pisa in the Coppa Italia on Tuesday.
The former Inter Milan midfielder was replaced after 15 minutes by Samuel Gustafsson and according to a report on Torino’s official website, the 25 year old will miss games against Sampdoria on Sunday, Juventus, Napoli and Genoa.
“According to the medical report, investigations reveal that Joel Obi strained the adductor muscles of his right thigh which requiries a three-week break,” the statement reads.
Obi has featured for Inter Milan and Parma in the Serie A in the past but has had a career blighted by several injuries.
