Johnson Vows To Return

England’s Callum Johnson insists he will still win a world title despite his knockout defeat to Artur Beterbiev on Saturday. The Boston fighter was the huge underdog ahead of the fight in Chicago and he was knocked down inside the first round.

Johnson managed to climb off the canvas to rock his opponent and score his own knockdown just a round later.
However, Beterbiev’s power proved too much as he landed a heavy combination in the fourth at the Wintrust Arena.

Johnson was unable to beat the count but he insists he will respond and cannot wait to prove his world title credentials in the next 12 months.

“I don’t want to make any excuses, but I can fight better than that,” he told Sky Sports.
“I came close in that second round but the better man won and he finished the job off, so fair play to him.

“It’s not dented my confidence at all. In fact I think I might have needed that and believe me, I am coming back stronger and better than ever and I can’t wait to get back in there.”
