Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic will continue to tinker with his defence this week in a bid to find a solution to his team’s woes at the back. The Cottagers conceded their 13th goal in six Premier League games on Saturday as they drew 1-1 with Watford.
Only the bottom two clubs, Cardiff and Huddersfield, have a worst defensive record.
Jokanovic has chopped and changed at the back so far this season but says he will continue to do so – starting at Millwall on Tuesday night in the Carabao Cup – as he is still finding out about his players following the arrival of 12 new recruits in the summer.
Speaking about how to tighten up, the Serb said on West London Sport: “This is my job.
“I must work with them and discover what I don’t know about them.
“When we bring in new players, it’s not easy. Sometimes it’s not a question about quantity but about quality and we have to try to find out how we can improve ourselves from the season before.
“I must know who can offer me what level in different situations. I have made one lap checking all of these players who have played with me right now and on Tuesday night I will probably have another test for players to discover something new.
“It’s my sixth game with 12 new players. Today’s situation is better than yesterday, and tomorrow will be better than today. We are in some kind of process and the players are gelling.”
After the cup tie at Millwall, Fulham head to Everton on Saturday to face another team struggling defensively so far.Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
