Christopher Jullien claims he snubbed a move to the Premier League because he wanted to stay at Toulouse to work on areas of his game. The 25-year-old was heavily linked with a move to the likes of Newcastle and Southampton during the summer transfer window after a good season in Ligue 1.
However, Jullien, who joined Toulouse from Frieburg in 2016 and is contracted to the club until 2021, claims he felt it would be better to stay in his homeland for the time being.
The centre-back, who has not ruled out a future switch to England, said: “We talked about a departure, but now I’m here. There was interest in me, but it’s like that.
“I sat down with the coach [Allain] Casanova and we talked. We thought I was missing things [from my game] today.
“The coach knows football and some players who have gone to the Premier League. And I’m not ready.
“I am listening to learn. The day I’m ready, maybe I’ll go elsewhere. For the moment, I am very good here.”
