Juventus have confirmed Joao Cancelo has undergone successful surgery on his right knee. The 24-year-old, a summer arrival from Valencia, underwent the operation at the Clinica Sedes Sapientiae in Turin earlier this week and is expected to be sidelined until at least the middle of January.
A club statement read: “Today, Joao Cancelo has undergone a medial selective meniscectomy on his right knee.
“The operation, performed by Professor Roberto Rossi, a consultant for Juventus and J | Medical, in the presence of Juventus health manager Dr. Claudio Rigo at the Clinica Sedes Sapientiae was fully successful. “From tomorrow Cancelo will start rehabilitative care.”
Cancelo has been one of Juve’s standout performers so far this season, making 15 appearances across all competitions and helping the Old Lady to 14 wins and one draw from their opening 15 games in Serie A.
The Portugal international is expected to miss a number of games during his rehabilitation, including Saturday’s Turin derby against Torino at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino.
