Serie A champions Juventus have confirmed Mattia De Sciglio suffered a thigh injury during the warm-up for the Sassuolo clash. The right-back has struggled with injuries in recent years and he pulled up during Sunday’s pre-match warm-up.
Juventus went on to win the match 2-1 at the Allianz Stadium, with summer signing Cristiano Ronaldo scoring twice in the second half.
De Sciglio only made 12 appearances last season due to injuries and the club have confirmed he has already started treatment as they try to get him back in the coming weeks.
“Having pulled up in the warm-up of Sunday’s win over Sassuolo, Mattia De Sciglio underwent tests, which revealed a tear to the flexor muscles in his right thigh,” the Bianconeri announced on their official website.
“The defender has started to receive therapy and is undergoing a personalised recovery programme, as his condition continues to be monitored on a daily basis.”
