Amir Kahn doesn’t give Rocky Fielding a chance of beating Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez at Madison Square Gardens on Saturday.
Fielding will become the fifth British fighter to take on the impressive Mexican, who has lost just one of his 53 fights, with that defeat coming on points to the legendary Floyd Mayweather Jnr back in 2013.
Kahn is one of those to have taken on Canelo in the past, with the Bolton fighter stopped in the sixth round when the the pair clashed in Las Vegas in 2016, and he feels this is a step too far for Merseysider Fielding.
The former WBA light-welterweight title holder, who may fight Kell Brook in the spring, has described the Mexican as a “beast” and says no fighter “can stop him”.
Kahn added: “I like Rocky, he’s a brilliant guy, but I’ve been in with Canelo and I just can’t give Rocky a chance. Canelo has matured as a fighter and is a better fighter than when I fought him. He is a great fighter now.”
The 31-year-old Fielding remains upbeat about his chances of causing a major upset, saying this week: “I went to Germany (to take on then undefeated Tyron Zeuge), no one gave me a chance and I took it with both hands.
No one will give me a chance here, but I believe in myself.”Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved. The information contained in Completesports.com may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed without the prior written authority of Completesports.com.
