Kalu, Akpala Score As Gent, Oostende Qualify For Title Play-offs; Ajagun, Salami Also on Target

Nigerian forward, Samuel Kalu, was on target for KAA Gent who beat Mechelen 3-0 on Sunday and qualify for the play-offs that will produce Belgian Jupiler Pro-League  champions, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Kalu scored in the 46th minute to make it 3-0 in favour of Gent.nIt was his second league goal of the season for Gent.

Also in action for Gent were Moses Simon, Anderson Esiti, William Troost-Ekong and Rabiu Ibrahim.

Another Nigerian player on the score sheet was Joseph Akpala whose team KV Oostende were forced to a 2-2 away draw by Standard Liege, but still advanced into the play-offs spot.

Akpala found the back of the net on 47 minutes to make it 2-0 for Oostende before they were eventually pegged back by Standard Liege.

It was Akpala's first goal this season.

In the Dutch Eredivisie (top flight), Abduljeleel Ajagun was among the goal scorers as his club Roda JC defeated visiting FC Groningen 3-1. Groningen would end the match with 10 men.

Ajagun opened scoring for Roda in the 77th minute before he was replaced in the 77th minute.

It was his second goal for Roda JC in the league campaign this season.

In the Finnish Cup, Gbolahan Salami scored for KuPS who lost 4-2 at home to Honka.bSalami bagged KuPS first goal in the 65th minute.

Also in action for KuPS was Azubuike Egwuekwe who played for 90 minutes.

And in Turkey, Nigerian trio; Godfrey Oboabona, Nosa Igiebor and Bright Edomwonyi were in action for Rizespor who were beaten 2-1 at home by Antalyaspor.

Both Oboabona and Edomwonyi played for 90 minutes, while Igiebor was introduced in the 46th minute.
