Kalu, Eduok On Target For Gent, Kasimpasa; Aluko Stars In Fulham’s Away Draw

Nigerian forward Samuel Kalu scored his first Belgian league goal of the season for Gent who were forced to a 1-1 draw away to KV Mechelen Completesportsnigeria.com reports. 


Kalu scored in the 33rd minute but a late strike from Tim Matthijs three minutes from time earned a point for the hosts. His compatriots Anderson Esiti and Moses Simon were unused substitutes.

Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun was an unused substitute for FSV Mainz in their 3-1 win over Regionalliga side LSK Hansa in Saturday's DFB Pokal Cup clash.

The win secures FSV Mainz' place in the next round of the competition.

Isaac Success was left out of the Watford squad that played out an enthralling 3-3 draw at the Vicarage Road on Saturday.


In the English Skybet Championship, Hope Akpan played for 74 minutes in Burton Albion 4-1 loss away to Ola Aina's Hull City at the KCOM Stadium. It was Aina's second appearance for the Tigers this season just as Akpan.

Sone Aluko played the entire duration of Fulham's 1-1 draw away to Reading. It was his second start of the season.

In the Scottish Premier League Efe Ambrose made his second start of the new season for Hibernian who defeated Rangers 3-2 at the Ibrox Stadium.

At the Stade de la Beaujoire, Chidozie Awaziem made his first start for Nantes, but he could do little as his team lost 1-0 to Olympique Marseille. It was his second Ligue 1 appearance this season.

In Belgium, Abdul Ajagun made his second appearance for Kortrijk who beat  Eupen 2-1 on Saturday. The former U-17, U-20 midfielder was yellow-carded in the 58th minute of the encounter.

Joseph Akpala came on in the 65th minute for Gohi Bi Cyriac in Oostende's 3-0 loss at home to Waasland-Beveren. It was his second appearance of the campaign.

In Turkey, Elderson Echiejile's debut for his new club Sivasspor ended in a 1-0 defeat away to Akhisar Belediye Genclik Ve Spor.

Emem Eduok was on target for Kasimpasa who trounced Alanyaspor 3-1 in their opening Turkish Super Lig clash on Saturday. Eduok made it 3-1 for his side in the 86th minute and was booked for a minute later.

In the Turkish second division,  Bright Edomwonyi came on for the final five minutes of Rizespor's 4-1 win over Manisaspor. He replaced Leonard Kweuke for his first game this season.

Oghenekaro Etebo was replaced in the 90th minute of Feirense goalless draw away to Moreirense in the Portuguese topflight division. He has made two appearances since the start of the season.

In Russia, the duo of Kehinde Fatai and  Sylvester Igboun were on from start to the finish for FC Ufa who got battered 4-1 at home by FC Rostov.

Aaron Samuel was replaced on the hour mark by Fedor Chalov in CSKA Moscow's 2-1 derby win overSpartak Moscow. He has one goal to his name this season.

In Hungary, Ezekiel Henty saw yellow while in action for Videoton FC who beat Debrecen by a lone goal. The game saw ten yellow cards issued. It was Henty's third appearance for the club since joining from Locomotiv Moscow.

Obinna Nwobodo also made his fourth appearance for Ujpest who lost 2-1 to Budapest Honved. Akeem LAtifu was not listed for Honved.
