Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane fired the North London side to a 3-2 Premier League win against Everton on Sunday at White Hart Lane to claim Spurs’ ninth home win this season.
Kane scored twice to take him clear at the top of the scorers chart with 19 goals, while Dele Alli scored Spurs’ third. Romelu Lukaku and Enner Valencia scored Everton’s goals.
Spurs closed the gap on leaders Chelsea to seven points with the victory and denied Everton their sixth clean sheet.
Kane and Lukaku had headlined much of the previews going into the game but the early battles were fought in the midfield.
Everton midfield trio of Iddrisa Ngueye, Morgan Schneiderlin and Gareth Barry snapped into challenges but referee Michael Oliver refused vehemently to award a seventh minute penalty to Tottenham when right-back Kyle Walker went sprawling to the floor under the challenge of Leighton Baines.
Everton however paid the price of an uncharacteristically slack defending as Kane scored in the 20th minute with a stunning strike from 30 yards.
Spurs created more chances after the opener as Christian Eriksen dragged his low shot wide five minutes after Kane’s goal while Victor Wanyama’s left-footed shot hit the crossbar almost immediately.
Kane made it 2-0 ten minutes into the second half when he latched onto a Alli’s through pass following Morgan Schneiderlin’s poor clearance and placed the ball in the far corner.
A fourth hat-trick in ten games for Kane seemed to be on the cards with eighteen minutes left on the clock but the England international was flagged offside as he made to convert a Kyle Walker low cross.
Lukaku tucked the ball away in the 81st minute with his weaker right foot after beating Jan Vertonghen. Kane was soon substituted.
DeAlli swept home a Harry Winks’ freekick for Spurs but Valencia reduced the arrears, both goals coming in added time.Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
