1996 Olympics gold-medallist, Nwankwo Kanu, has congratulated Nigeria's Olympic Eagles, the Dream Team, for qualifying for the quarter-finals of the 2016 Rio Olympics, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Roma's youngster, Umar Sadiq scored the only goal of the match in the 39th minute as Samson Siasia's side defeated Sweden 1-0 in Manaus on Sunday night to the delight of Kanu who led Nigeria's U-23s to win gold at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games.
The former Arsenal forward also praised coach Samson Siasia for his efforts on the team.
Kanu tweeted after the game: "Congratulations our dear team Nigeria U23. Well done boys and well done Samson and your coaching staff, we are proud of you all keep going."
