Kanu: Leave Keshi Alone

Kanu: Leave Keshi Alone

–Ex-Eagles captain sues for support over list for Sudan clash

Former Nigeria captain, Nwankwo Kanu has urged Nigerians to stand behind the Super Eagles Manager, Stephen Keshi in his quest to qualify the country for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations slated for Morocco next year.

Keshi has come under severe criticism of late following the 24-man squad list he released for the prosecution of the October 11 and 15 crucial two-legged games against Sudan, saying the former national team skipper called upsome players who are plying their trades in obscure leagues and not even doing well at their respective clubs.

This has added up to the not too impressive start by the Eagles in their qualification games, losing 3-2 to Congo in Calabar and playing out a scoreless draw with South Africa in Cape Town.

But Papilo, as Nwankwo Kanu is called by his admirers reckons that as patriotic Nigerians, we should stand behind the team no matter what, adding that Keshi should be left alone to do his job.

“Keshi is the man in-charge of the team, he knows the players to do the job for him and country. As patriotic Nigerians, we owe it as a duty to support and respect his decisions”, starts the former Arsenal striker.

“Keshi wants to succeed, the team also wants to win games so we should stand behind the team and give them all the support we can.

“It’s always going to be 11 players on the pitch at a time and perhaps three (substitutes to come on later),so rather than criticizing all the time we should render our support for the team to excel”.

“What matters most is that such players are Nigerians so where they play their football does not matter for as long as the coach believes in them.”

Nigeria Football Federation will conduct election into the executive committee of the football house in Warri, Delta State today and Papilo prays the best man gets the job.

“I would say that the most important thing is for the delegates to vote according to the right dictates of their conscience, to ensure that the right person who will move the game forward is given the opportunity to do so.

“Not because this person gave me this or that person is my friend or all of that. We’ve had enough of problems in our football in recent times and I believe voting in a most credible person in a most peaceful atmosphere will tell the World we’re moving forward,” Kanu said.

  • Kanu should go to blazes for goodness sake! Is the SE Ke$hi’s personal property? What is wrong with Nigerians and other stakeholders demanding accountability when we have won only one of our last 11 games and a coach keeps leaving out the best legs we have to ensure we defend the colors of our great nation? Ke$hi is a fraud and the only person he cares about is himself and that is exactly the lack of character that has always led to his downfall. Kanu should please zip it and take those stupid corn rolls off his head for starters!

  • What you have is a situation where the Minister, Ke$hi and Pinnick or whatever his name is are trying to establish a three-headed money laundering unit between the NSC, the NFF and Ke$hi. We will expose them and they will all end up in jail or worse. Ke$hi has been politicking behind the scenes rather than studying his opponents and developing tactics to ensure we win games. He wants to use the SE to set up a perpetual pool of players to be sold overseas and elsewhere and he gets a cut off the top from the players and their agents, to include a cut of the match bonuses. He is the one behind the players striking in Brazil twice and humiliating Nigeria on the global scene. Ke$hi needs to go. We are onto him. He will never change. Where are his six or 5 suitors by the way? Did they all dump him? Yeye mafioso.
