Nigeria forward Olanrewaju Kayode is happy to start his time with Shakhtar Donetsk on a good note after scoring in the club’s 3-0 away win against Zorya in their Ukrainian top flight clash on Sunday, Completesportsnigeria. com reports.
Kayode, who came on in the 91st minute for Facundo Ferreyra, got on the score sheet in the 93rd minute to make it 3-0 for Shakhtar in the encounter.
“I’m very happy, the game was impressive! I appeared at the end of the match, so within a few minutes I spent on the field, I couldn’t quite influence the developments,” the former Nigeria junior international told Shakhtar Donetsk’s official website after the game.
“Of course, I’m happy that I managed to score a goal, that the team won – that’s essential for me. My family came, I scored the last goal, that’s definitely a sign. In a word, it’s been a great day.”
Kayode joined Shakhtar on loan from English Premier League runaway leaders Manchester City.
He was initially loaned to Spanish LaLiga club Girona but was left frustrated due to lack of playing time.
He played in 12 games for Girona without scoring before joining Shakhtar Donetsk.
