Brazilian Kenedy says he was “always keen” to return to Newcastle after hearing of the club’s summer interest. The 22-year-old made the temporary switch to St James’ Park in the second half of last season from Chelsea and his impressive performances helped the Magpies finish 10th in the Premier League.
Heading into the summer transfer window, Newcastle contacted the Blues about taking the former Brazil Under-23 international on loan and a deal was eventually agreed between both parties.Speaking about his return to the north east, Kenedy has revealed he was always eager to return to Rafael Benitez’s side when hearing of the interest.
In an interview with FourFourTwo, he said: “I was always very keen to come back. The first loan spell worked out very well for Newcastle and myself, so when I heard they were interested in bringing me back this season, I was delighted.
“I didn’t play too much for Chelsea, so getting more minutes here can only be good for my career.”
