Out of contract Nigerian senior team Head Coach Stephen Keshi has backed one of his assistants Dan Amokachi to succeed with the home based Super Eagles in the double header international friendlies against Sudan and Cote d’ Ivoire in Dubai from January 11-17.
Speaking with Complete Sports on phone from his home in Benin City, Keshi said Amokachi is a good coach who is capable of handling any team and get result.
”We should support Amokachi to succeed with the home based Super Eagles. I believe he can guide the Eagles to get some decent results from the two matches in Dubai next year.
”It must not always be Keshi alone. I have worked with Amokachi for quite some time now and I know he can do well in my absence, so there should be no panic over those two matches.
Daniel is quite experienced with the national team and this will not be different” Keshi said.
He said what Amokachi needed from Nigerians is their support and prayers to progress further as coach of the national team stressing that the country is blessed with good coaches waiting for the opportunity to showcase their ability.
Keshi who refused to talk about his contract situation with the NFF however expressed bitterness over numerous criticisms by his colleagues and Nigerians adding that he deserves some respect for what he has achieved for this country.
