The Nigeria Football Federation and out of contract coach of the Super Eagles, Stephen Keshi, on Friday failed to sign contract papers for the Head Coach job of the national team, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Sources claim the situation may be unconnected with Keshi’s refusal to apologise to the NFF chieftains he “abused” weeks back in the heat of the protracted talks.
Keshi’s contract had long expired after the 2014 World Cup but he had taken charge of the Eagles on per game basis during the failed 2015 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Completesportsnigeria.com gathered The NFF boss, Amaju Pinnick, is in London while the National Sports Commission is yet to be officially briefed about any decision to re-engage Keshi.
No new date has been fixed for the contract signing ceremony, but sports journalists have been assured they will be informed about a new date.
It is however unclear if Daniel Amokachi will be relieved of his duties as assistant coach of the Super Eagles as has been widely reported in some sections of the media.
El Kanemi chief coach, Salisu Yusuf, an assistant coach when Samson Siasia was in charge of the senior national side is reportedly the choice of the Nigeria Football Federation to become the new assistant coach of the Eagles.
