Keshi Replies NFF, Denies N84m Deal

Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi has admitted to replying the Nigeria Football Federation and accepting to remain as the country’s senior national team coach, but he claims no contract offer has been made.

The former Togo and Mali boss also debunked rumours that he has demanded a pay rise after guiding the team to a second round finish at the World Cup in Brazil.

“Yes, I replied the letter of intent they sent me,” he told Complete Sports. “I wish to continue on the job but there was no contractual offer from them. Let’s see how it goes from here.

“I haven’t made any demands but I will wait to hear from them first before I comment further on that. We haven’t discussed this yet so till they open the talks I’d rather not talk about that.”

The former Togo coach however called for early preparation with the Super Eagles as they host Rwanda on September 7 in their first qualifying match for the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco next year.

South Africa, Rwanda and Sudan are the other teams in this group and Keshi admits they are not pushovers.

He said: “We have to prepare early to make a good defence of our title.”
