Karen Khachanov stunned Novak Djokovic as he won his first Masters 1000 title with a straight sets win over Novak Djokovic in Paris. In a match lasting just over an hour and a half, the 22-year-old Russian beat the Serb 7-5 6-4 to claim his first title on the ATP tour.
The result ended Djokovic’s 22-match unbeaten, although he will still climb up to number one in the world following the conclusion of the tournament.

Khachanov, who was ranked 18th before his win, will now go up to number 11 after becoming the first Russian since Nikolay Davydenko in 2009 to win a Masters 1000 title.
Khachanov took advance of Djokovic being under the weather from flu-like symptoms on the day and admitted he was thrilled to win such a tournament against an opponent like the reigning Wimbledon winner.
“It means the world to me,” said Khachanov. “It’s one of the biggest titles in my career so far.
