The players of the US national Team have been given the freedom by head coach Jurgen Klinsmann to have sex during the World Cup.
The tournament would mean that many players are away from their loved ones for a number of weeks.
Klinsmann whose team play the Super Eagles of Nigeria in Florida, USA tonight at 11pm Nigerian time in their last preparatory game ahead of the World Cup, however sees no problem in allowing the players to engage in sexual activities.
In an interview produced by soccergods, Klinsmann cited a difference in culture, with regards to Mexico, who have banned their players form having sex during the tournament.
“We are very casual the way we approach things. They (players’ families) can pretty much come any time, they will be at the games, they can come to the hotel and we can have barbecues together. Every nation is different. I played in different countries where you didn’t see your girlfriend or your wife for two months. That was more the Italian background when I played in Italy. Every team and country has a different approach based on their culture.”
“I respect the Mexican approach because it is their culture. We have a group of guys together and an environment that is very open and casual… but once we go on the field for training and before the games we are very serious and
down to business.”
There is muted panic in the Eagles’ camp due to the absence of the trio of Ahmed Musa, Kenneth Omeruo and Elderson Echiejile due to injuries.
However, the Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation Barr. Musa Amadu has explained that it is still possible to change any player that has been injured before the world cup following the injury suffered by the players in the friendly against Greece.
“It’s a possibility, but we are not looking forward for injuries, what I believe, the rules are clear, if a player is injured within the time frame, a participating member association has the right to change a player some 48 hours before their first game, so the rules are clear on this and we won’t have any problems with that, but like I said we should be more positive and I believe that we will go into the world cup injury free and tackle the Iranians on June 16th with our full squad.” Amadu posited.
The Eagles have had their last training ahead of the game tonight.
