Jurgen Klopp has said his Liverpool side are still in pre-season mode and believes there is much more to come from his players. The Reds have made a 100% start to the season, winning all four Premier League games to sit top of the table during the international break.
Victories over West Ham, Crystal Palace, Brighton and Leicester have fuelled belief that they can challenge for the title this season but Klopp is staying grounded.
The German says there is plenty of room for improvement as his squad slowly adapt to the new campaign.
“The players are not at their top level yet. That is because we are in the early part of the season. It is normal,” he said.
“Everybody should know we have a lot of work to do still, but if they don’t then I have told them.
“When you win four times it sounds really crazy to say this, but it is still part of the pre-season for a very long time after the summer.”
Liverpool’s schedule is about to get much busier following the break with a trip to Wembley to take on Spurs on September 15 followed by their Champions League opener at home to Paris Saint-Germain on September 18. After that Southampton visit in the league (September 18), before two games against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup on September 25 and in the league on September 29.
Klopp added: “From mid-September, we play every three days. So we do the work now, and this is how it is – it is normal that you are not quite at 100% in the games.”Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
