Klopp Hails Can’s ‘Spectacular’ Goal Vs Watford; Midfielder Celebrates ‘My Best Goal Ever’

Jurgen Klopp on Monday night hailed German midfielder Emre Can for his wonderful Premier League goal against Watford which put Liverpool within touching distance of Champions League qualification.

Can's astonishing overhead-kick sealed a 1-0 win at Watford that put Liverpool four points ahead of fifth-place Manchester United, who were held at home by Swansea on Sunday.

United have a game in hand – but their run-in is much tougher.

Klopp said at his post match conference: "The goal was spectacular. I only saw it once but it already looked pretty nice. He is a good boy, a good player – he deserves this goal.

"Nobody can take these points away from us, that's the best news," Klopp stated.

Goal scorer on the night, Can celebrated: "I have never scored a goal like that. That's the best goal I've ever scored.

"I saw the space and I ran behind and my first thought was that I wanted to head it, then I didn't think too much.

"But the most important thing was three points after knowing what happened yesterday. It was a big game for us.

"Everything is in our hands. If we win the three games we are in the Champions League. We are confident. If we perform how we can perform then we can do it."

Klopp provided an update on Philippe Coutinho's injury, hoping that it is "not too serious".

The Brazilian suffered a dead leg after getting caught by Adrian Mariappa during the Reds' 1-0 victory over Watford at Vicarage Road on Monday night.

The 24-year-old limped off the pitch and returned to the bench with ice strapped to his right thigh.

"He has a dead leg," Klopp told reporters during his post-match press conference. "Hopefully it's not too serious but of course it's really painful and no chance [he could continue]. Everybody could see he tried hard, but no chance."
