Klopp: Liverpool Must Not Slip Up Vs Boro, UCL Important

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is not unmindful of the need for his club to claim a win against Middlesbrough to guarantee Champions League football next season, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchster City occupy third to fifth place in the Premier League and are separated by three points as the race for top four places is going down to the last day of the season.

"So far a successful season and we want to finish successful," Jurgen Klopp told the media in his Friday's news conference.

"We have to win, it's pretty easy. If we have enough points we deserve Champions League, if we don't – we don't.

"The best thing would be 4-0 after two minutes but that is not possible. If start is not good that doesn't mean we will stop. Everyone can be sure we will fight."

The former Borussia Dortmund manager spoke about the financial benefits of being in the Champions League as Arsenal breathe down their necks.

"It is a wonderful competition. It is money we didn't have last year. That is one part of it. We are a club without financial problems and we have money to spend.

"We have a really good side when out first 11, 12, 13 players are fit," Klopp enthused.

Roberto Firmino could make a return to the Liverpool squad for Sunday’s final-day clash with Middlesbrough after injury, Klopp has revealed as he gave fitness updates in the news conference.

“[It’s] very positive. We could not decide until now, but he feels good,” he told reporters.

“He’s not part of team training, we will make a final test tomorrow and we will see.

“I would rather say yes [he could be available], but not sure.”

If Firmino is passed fit, Klopp could have a host of attacking options to consider, including Sturridge, Adam Lallana, Philippe Coutinho and Divock Origi.

Sadio Mane (knee) is still ruled out, along with captain Jordan Henderson (foot), with Klopp continuing the midfielder’s absence.

“It’s not that difficult an injury, it’s difficult to make the rehabilitation. It needs time,” he said.

“At one point you think ‘it would have been better if he broke his leg’!

“We’ll be without him on Sunday, but no concerns [about long-term problems]. The season was a little bit short to come back, that’s for sure.”
