Jurgen Klopp admits Liverpool got exactly what they deserved after they lost 1-0 to Napoli in the Champions League on Wednesday.
Lorenzo Insigne’s strike 30 seconds from the end of normal time was enough to hand the Italians the victory at the Stadio San Paolo and, with it, top spot in Group C.
The victory was no less than Napoli deserved as they were the better side for the majority of the contest, with Liverpool failing to register a single shot on target for the first time in the Champions League since losing to Benfica in February 2006.
Klopp acknowledged after the match that his side’s performance was not up to scratch and Napoli were full value for their victory.
“I think we had a big part of that because we can play much better,” he said. “No shot on target is not enough. They had a good game, we didn’t, that’s what they deserved the three points.”
The German was also quick to accept responsibility for his role in the defeat and he confirmed he will be analysing the performance again over the coming days.
“For the exact reason I am not 100 per cent sure,” he added. “A big part of that performance was my fault for sure but I need at least one night to watch it again and see what was the fault but it was not like it should have looked.”
The Reds don’t have long to learn from the defeat, as they are back in Premier League action on Sunday when they take on Manchester City at Anfield in what is shaping up to be a crucial top of the table clash.Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
