Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says expectations are high at the club after their spending spree this summer.
The Reds have spent upwards of £170million this summer to try and challenge for their first Premier League trophy – and first top-flight title victory since 1990.
Signings include £66million goalkeeper Alisson – who held the world-record fee for the position until Kepa’s arrival at Chelsea – as well as midfield duo Naby Keita and Fabinho, who will boost their prowess in the middle of the park.
Liverpool finished fourth last season and Klopp says he hopes to close the gap to Manchester City at the top and has ambitions of winning the Premier League.
The Liverpool boss said: "My expectations are always pretty high, so now we must make the best of it [this season]. We want to get the most out of it and try and reach the highest level and all that stuff. That's always my expectation.
"For us it was pretty normal [the transfer window]. We spent a little bit more than normal but you have to create a squad that is strong enough and wide enough to deal and cope with the Premier League and be as successful as possible. And step by step we are getting closer."11 BUSINESS NUGGETS FROM SUPER EAGLES BRONZE MEDAL TRIUMPH. The content of this ebook will propel you above your competition. DOWNLOAD NOW!!!
