Klopp: Sunderland Are Favourites Vs Liverpool, Gerrard’s A Legend

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has predicted a tough game against struggling Sunderland on Saturday at Anfield in the English Premier League.

Sunderland have won their last two games after failing to win in 10 games.

Liverpool currently are second on 27 points, one point behind leaders Chelsea.

“Sunderland is a great challenge. It’s hard because everything else seems more interesting [to you],” Klopp said in his pre-match press conference on Thursday.

“We couldn’t be further away from the points.

“We won’t underestimate them, if one person does in the stadium, it’s the first mistake we make.

“If we do our job, which will be a difficult one, but the next job is there and we need to do the good things again – all that stuff.”

He added:”I really didn’t have the feeling that we suffered from the international break. It’s the same for all teams.

“You always have to be ready for the next game.

“We had a few players that couldn’t train every session this week. We have no time to waste in the first few weeks of the season, it’s getting more and more intense because of the number of games in December and January. I don’t think too much about it.

“We try to do the best and be prepared in the best way. Sunderland took six points out of the last two games, we took four, so they’re favourites.”

And on Steven Gerard’s recent announcement from professional football, Klopp said:”I’m only here 14 months, how could I be the person to say how big these people are?

“I met a few, I already met Stevie, he’s a great person, far away from wanting to be a legend or be handled as a legend.

“I saw a few games, I saw all 111 goals.”
