Argentina have been dealt a serious injury blow after West Ham midfielder Manuel Lanzini sustained a knee injury during the team’s training on Friday morning.
Lanzini’s injury was confirmed on Argentina’s men’s verified Twitter handle, Seleccion Argentina.
According to the report, Lanzini ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament on his right knee.
The 25-year-old is effectively out of the World Cup but it is not clear if he will be replaced in the squad.
“Lanzini suffered in today’s (Friday) morning training the rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of his right knee,” the handle was quoted.
Argentina also lost first choice goalkeeper Sergio Romero who also sustained injury during training.
Lanzini made his debut for Argentina in a 1-0 friendly win against Brazil on June 9, 2017.
He made 27 appearances for West Ham in the Premier League last season, scoring five goals.Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
