Kwara United have confirmed the appointment of John Obuh as new technical adviser of the club, Completesportsnigeria.com can report.
Obuh’s appointment was confirmed Tuesday by the Kwara State government and would be unveiled in the coming days.
Completesportsnigeria.com reports that following the relegation of the club to the second-tier league, Nigeria National League, NNL, at the close of the 2014/2015 season, the technical staff of the club led by Tunde Abdulrahman were relieved of their duties.
Obuh, who guided the club to a return to the top flight three seasons ago, was found to have the magic wand to steer the club back to the elite league.
“Yes, Obuh has been confirmed as the new coach of Kwara United,” Olayinka Owolewa, image maker of the club confirmed to Completesportsnigeria.com Tuesday.
“His appointment was confirmed by the Kwara State government after a meeting with the new chairman of the club, Thompson Oladimeji."
Completesportsnigeria.com recalls that Oladimeji was in-charge when the club secured promotion to the NPFL three seasons ago while John Obuh was the coach.
Oladimeji told Completesportsnigeria.com that his preference to Obuh was informed by his conviction that the former U-17 national team coach and ex-Flying Eagles gaffer has what it takes to deliver.
“We did it together before and I believe we can still do it again. Obuh is good, knows the terrain here very well as well as he knows the job,” the Kwara United boss told Completesportsnigeria.com.
