Frank Lampard is set to extend his loan spell at Manchester City, according to reports.
The 36-year-old officially belongs to City’s MLS franchise New York City, but has been on loan at the Etihad since the start of the season.
His current loan runs out on New Year’s Eve, but he will now stay until at least mid-February, reports the Daily Mirror.
Lampard has become a vital member of Manuel Pellegrini’s squad, scoring six goals in 15 games. His importance is only likely to increase when Yaya Toure jets off on African Cup of Nations duty from the start of January.
Pellegrini has reportedly told the City hierarchy that he needs to keep hold of Lampard for longer.
