Issues of visas and status of passports, fitness of players have to be taken care of before the list is announced to the public. The first point of contact will be the clubs, because they own the players. Definitely the contacts with the clubs have been ongoing, and Gernot Rohr must have submitted his list already to the NFF, requesting they ask the clubs to release the players. It is simple courtesy to the clubs, also so that they can make arrangements on what to do before, when, and after the player is absent. Nothing wrong in a club announcing that their man has been called up. I even think they sense some pride in it. Mind you the market value of a footballer representing his country at the World Cup will rise, and clubs can sell them for better money.Soccer is business and not the Nigerian Civil Service.

@ amadi you are absolutely right the clubs will be informed first, then certainly there is pride in it for the club. I wish to see the list soon so I can comment fully

  • It’s not only pride, FIFA pay good money to clubs whose players feature @ the world cup. So being invited to the build up to THE WORLD CUP should excite both Etebo and Las Palmas
