Lasisi Targets World Title After WBC Triumph In Ghana

Dubai-based unbeaten Nigerian boxer, Aliu Bamidele Lasisi who won the World Boxing Council (WBC) international Silver super flyweight title on Boxing Day in Accra, Ghana has vowed to win the World title in shortest possible time.

Lasisi, 28, who improved to 11-0(8Kos) with the win over Tanzania’s Mchanja Yohana was grateful to God and his team after delivering on his promise to win the fight.

“I’m quite happy and I thank my team for all the hard work put into getting me to my present level,”  Lasisi who has not had the opportunity of fighting before fight fans in Nigeria began while speaking with in Lagos at the weekend.

“For now, I’m on a short break in Lagos, the plan is to return to my base in a few weeks time and start working with my trainers on how to actualize my dream of getting a shot at the world title.”

Lasisi, had scored an impressive unanimous decision win over Yohana at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra after dominating his Tanzanian opponent for most of the 10 rounds the bout lasted. recalls that the Dubai-based fighter becomes the second Nigerian to win a WBC silver title.

Policeman, Olanrewaju Durodola who campaigns in the cruiserweight category was the first Nigerian to win a Silver title after defeating  Dmitry Kudryashov in 2015.
