Former Super Eagles utility player, Garba Lawal, has expressed satisfaction with the players Gernot Rohr invited for the clash against Algeria in a World Cup, Russia 2018 qualifier on November 12 in Uyo even as he warned that the new coach of Algeria Georges Leekens' factor should not be overlooked.
Garba Lawal who played under the Belgian at Roda of Holland told Complete Sports that Leekens has the mentality of wanting to win every game and that he likes his teams to attack their opponents all through the game.
"Leekens will attack the Eagles because he is blessed with an Algerian side overflowing with attack minded players like Riyad Mahrez, Islam Slimani and the rest. He likes to win and will order his players to go into the field and express themselves in a positive way. He does not believe so much in being defensive," Lawal said.
"He likes winning and he likes his players giving 100 percent always. Nigeria's coach should not believe that the Algerians will play the same way they played Cameroon because Leekens will definitely change all that when they come to Uyo. My joy is that Rohr knows him and surely knows how to counter his game plan."
Garba believes that the form of the Super Eagles players with their respective clubs should also worry the Algerians who will come for a win in Uyo, stressing that the Eagles must be at their very best to stop the Algerians with a win that will boost Nigeria's qualification chances.
On Mikel Obi being frozen out of the Chelsea team, Garba said it is unfortunate that Super Eagles captain does not play regular football, adding that he should either raise his game and try to meet the manager's demands or look for a club elsewhere
"It is not acceptable that our captain does not even make the bench these days in Chelsea. He should move to another club," Lawal added.
