Former Nigeria international Garba Lawal has described the Super Eagles’ friendlies against Poland and Serbia as fantastic experience going into the 2018 World Cup.
The Super Eagles could not replicate the 1-0 win they had against Poland last week Friday as they lost 2-0 to Serbia on Tuesday at the Hive in London.
Two second half goals from Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, secured the win for Serbia who dominated the game from start to finish.
Reacting to the double header friendlies, Lawal who was in the Super Eagles squad to the France 1998 and Korea/Japan 2002 FIFA World Cups, stated it will only impact positively going into the World Cup.
“Both friendlies were fantastic,” Lawal told completesportsnigeria.com.
“You cannot rate players in just one or two games. (Gernot) Rohr knows his team he is taking to the World Cup a long time ago. He is the one to assess the team.
“We won one friendly and lost one so it’s okay. In football we learn everyday and I believe the players and coaching crew must have learnt a lot from the two friendlies against Poland and Serbia.”
The 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games gold medal winner, went on to play down Argentina’s 6-1 humiliation against Spain.
“To me it’s just a friendly, there is nothing serious about it,” he said. “The World Cup will be a different ball game. Germany who are world champions also lost to Brazil. So like I said, these are just friendlies to try out different players and tactics.”Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
