Fabian Delph and Benjamin Mendy could miss Manchester City’s Champions League opener against Lyon on Wednesday night through injury. Delph, who was substituted midway through the second half during City’s 3-0 home win over Fulham on Saturday, picked up a knock that could keep him out for one to two weeks, according to RMC Sport.
The French channel also claim Mendy was absent from the line-up at the Etihad Stadium because of a knee injury and he too could be missing when Lyon arrive in Manchester this week.
The potential absence of both players leaves Guardiola looking for a solution at left-back with Oleksandr Zinchenko hoping to push his way back into the City line-up.
However, the City boss has given the Ukrainian no minutes at all so far this season and might deem it too risky to throw the 21-year-old in at the deep end for a Champions League clash.
Guardiola could tinker with his formation by playing three at the back with Aymeric Laporte on the left and Leroy Sane deployed as an attacking wing-back.Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
