Newcastle United defender Florian Lejeune has revealed he has one month left of rehabilitation to undergo before his return. The 27-year-old picked up a knee injury in a pre-season encounter against St. Pat’s Athletic and has been forced to watch from the sidelines as Newcastle have made a stuttering start to the Premier League campaign.
Having suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury, Lejeune has been working hard behind the scenes to get his Toon career back on track.
The former Manchester City centre-back, who has since had spells at Girona and Eibar, has confirmed via Instagram that he has a month to go before he should be back playing for the Magpies.
Fabian Schar and Federico Fernandez have both been deuputising in defence but manager Rafael Benitez will welcome the news Lejeune is edging closer to a return long before the busy festive period.
